Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Solving complex office issues and working with the public are two things with which Elizabeth Rivera, Eagle Rock’s new business administrative assistant excels. This Florida expat works side by side with our office staff, playing a crucial role in the areas of student insurance billing, student banking, data entry, and an endless amount of other paperwork that’s important to the administrative functioning of Eagle Rock.

As a way of further introducing Elizabeth to our campus community and other Eagle Rock stakeholders, we asked our new office staffer to answer a few questions about herself.

Here’s what she had to say:

Eagle Rock: What did you do for work before arriving at Eagle Rock?

Elizabeth: I worked in hospitality for more than 20 years. My last position was housekeeping manager at the Stanley Hotel in downtown Estes Park.

Eagle Rock: Where did you go to college and what did you study?

Elizabeth: I went to Miami Dade College in Miami, Fla., where I studied English for three years. After that I took some courses to learn how to run a small business.

Eagle Rock: How difficult was it to adjust to driving in the Rocky Mountains (as opposed to driving a car in college in Florida)?

Elizabeth: It was very difficult and scary to adjust to driving in the Rocky Mountains. When I moved here, I didn’t want to drive at night because it’s so dark. Miami is a big city, and while traffic is an issue, it’s so brightly lit — even in the evening. But after a year in Estes Park, I find that I am able to drive at any time.

Eagle Rock: What is your favorite Eagle Rock School success story?

Elizabeth: The fact that I am able to work closely with the kids and their families, helping and guiding the different administrative situations that they are navigating during their time here — that’s been a consistent favorite experience of mine.

Eagle Rock: Please tell us about your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Elizabeth: I like to participate in all sorts of outdoors activities, like biking with my child. I also like to spend time cooking, going to the movies, and doing anything with my family.

Eagle Rock: What’s your favorite meal to cook, and what’s your favorite food to eat?

Elizabeth: My favorite cuisine to cook is Peruvian food, and my favorite food to eat is seafood. I love scallops.

Eagle Rock: What’s something most people would be surprised to know about you?

Elizabeth: That now I feel very blessed to be working at Eagle Rock. I enjoyed my time in hospitality but it was very stressful.
